Guest Posting Dos and Don’ts

If you have been a blogger for any amount of time, then you have probably seen guest posts. Lots of popular blogs use guest posts for content and as a part of the blogging community.

Guest posting is simply one blogger writing an Article for another blogger. Now, why would they do this? What do they get out of it? And why would you want guest posts on your blog? Well, the guest post writer is offering you free content, for one, and that is invaluable. You can keep your site updated with virtually no effort on your part.

As for the writer, they want to give you content in exchange for a link back to them. This gets them exposure on your blog to your readers. Essentially, you are telling your readers to visit their blog. This means that guest posting is a essential for all involved. You, your readers, and the guest poster all get something valuable out of it, and no money is exchanged.

What is Guest Blogging?

Unless you have a great SEO strategy which can get you quality backlinks, Traffic and Name for you in the blogging arena without Guest Blogging you will have to do that. It will increase your reputation and mark your presence in the blogging world ! So yes, you should guest post.

Importance Of Guest Blogging:

Talking of Guest Blogging , I would like to inform my readers that I also allow guest posting on my blog occasionally ! But certainly if the article is genuine and distinct.

So let's See the Do's And Don'ts Of Guest Posting

Do's:
  • Merge your blog topics – A guest post should have elements of both blogs present in it. It should pertain to the blog it is written for, but it should also be relevant to the blog it is linked back to.
  • Be personal- Blogging is all about connections. A guest post should connect with the readers on a personal level and make them want to read more.Impress them With Well Written Content
  • Your research – There is nothing worse than a guest post that is about a subject that has been covered a million times on the blog. Look at the blog before you write for it and make sure you have something new to add.
  • Follow the rules – There is nothing worse than having a guest post that does not meet the requirements specified by the host’s blog. If the blog you are writing for has a length requirement, a limit on the number of links, or a rigid set of topics they cover, do not ignore that. Be respectful of the host blogger’s wishes and make sure your guest post meets the requirements.Don't Break the Rules.
Don’ts:
  • Get off topic- Guest posts should be relevant to both the site it is posted to and the blog it is linked to. If the two blogs do not have anything in common, then they probably should not guest post for each other.
  • Get technical – Unless the guest poster is very familiar with the blog topic, the guest post should not be too technical.
  • Use bad English or grammar –If English is not your first language, then that is fine. Just be sure you have a native speaker edit the guest post before you submit it. Always make sure the grammar is correct and the post is complete!
  • Use a lot of links – People know when you are trying to sell them something. Either be honest about it or don’t do it. The last thing you want to do is fill your guest post with links to try to squeeze more money or search engine optimization out of it. Not only does it look bad, but the host blogger probably won’t allow it to be posted anyway, so you are just wasting your time and his.
